Aston Martin came into being in 1913. On Callow Street in London Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford had previously serviced cars under the moniker Bamford & Martin. Using a four cylinder coventry-simplex engine and a 1908 Isotta-Frashini chassis they pieced together their original Aston Martin automobile. In March 1915 they moved operations to Henniker Place in Kensington and made their first production car. In the mid 1920′s the company experienced financial difficulty which resulted in a change of ownership. At the helm of the new Aston Martin Motors were Bill Renwick, Augustus Bertelli and a number of rich investors. The factory was moved to Whitehead Aircraft Limited in Feltham. From the years 26-37 Bertelli was technical director and designer of all cars. These were the T-Type, the International, the Le Mans and the MKII and the Ulster. In 1930′s financial difficulties forced 2 changes of ownership.
In 1947, David Brown acquired the Motor Company, and was positioned in a leadership role.
